  i have been looking at some of the society's publications recently and was wondering what people's understanding without wts bias was to the image?

  Didn't the earliest biblical prophecies about Babylon state that it would be the 'Medes' who would conquer the city?

  This would have seemed reasonable in the early 6th century BC as Media was the largest power in the area and Nebuchadnezzar even built the 'Median Wall' to keep them out. Unfortunately, before the Medes could strike they were in turn conquered by the Persians under Cyrus. So isn't the insertion by Daniel of the fictitious Darius the Mede between the Babylonian kings and the Persian kings a clumsy way of helping to fulfill bible prophecy?

  a lot of people are worrying about these uprisings, riots and violence being done----it seems everywhere.

  i've read how some feel that europe does not have the ability as a union to fight against this.

  is this like it was in germany prior to ww!!

  I was watching the news the other night with my lovely JW mother. The first three news items were the riots around the world by muslims in protest about those cartoons, the discovery that one of the young muslim protestors in London who dressed as a suicide bomber was also a convicted cocain dealer, and the sentencing of Abul 'Hook-Handed' Hamza for incitement to murder 'infidels'.

  She then started to speculate that Islam could be the new King of the North, and that 'we' would only know after the events. So I presumed that this is an idea that's going round Witnessland. In fact if they still had an 'oracle' like Fred Franz writing for them I'm sure it would be in print by now!

  I sort of rolled my eyes a bit and asked for another helping of pie.

  Everytime I read a creationist article it smacks of the same pseudoscience that the Watchtower brought me for nearly 20 years. It may be better presented crap but it's still crap.

  Like the Watchtower I think the purpose of these sites is to make money from the poor saps who buy into it.

  add 17 to 539=556, neriglissar==4 years, add 4 to 556=560, evil-marduk=2 years, add 2 to560=562, nebuchadnezzar=43 years, add 43 to 562 =605.

  the bible at 2 kings 25: 8 and 9 says "in the 19th year of king nebuchadnezzar the servant of the king came to jerusallem and burned the house of jehovah.

  I'd like to be at one of the great battles of history, Issus, Cannae, Agincourt, Waterloo - only if I could survive unscathed of course. Maybe I could be in one of the British infantry squares at Waterloo as the French Cuirassiers attacked.

  Or maybe travel back 65 million years and see if it was an asteroid that really helped kill off the dinosaurs.

  Or just go back to Hollywood around 1933 and meet Stan and Ollie!!!

  how inadequate the secular evidence for the Babylonian rulers. It is much better to stick to biblical data then that of the pagans.

  But 539 BC is derived from this same 'pagan' data. Surely any methodology has to be consistent. That of the celebrated Watchtower scholars seems entirely inconsistent.
